Community Feedback #9 | Command Post

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the Command Post.

Following Patch 1.7 and our recent Developer AMA livestream, we’ve continued reviewing your feedback across Discord, Reddit, Steam and our social channels.

As always, these Community Feedback updates give us an opportunity to take some of the topics you’re discussing directly to the development team, provide updates where we can, and highlight where your feedback is helping shape future changes.

For Community Feedback #9, we’re covering some of the latest bugs being reported, wider discussions around Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, and several of your most requested features and quality-of-life improvements that could make their way into the game in the future.

Be sure to watch the full VOD for the Developer AMA #2 livestream on YouTube for more info.

Bugs & Issues

PS5 Crashes

We’ve continued to see reports from PS5 players experiencing crashes, including cases that have sometimes been associated with audio loss immediately beforehand.

Our investigation has found that these particular crashes are not being caused by the audio system itself, but are related to the game running out of available memory.

We can confirm that we have multiple memory-related improvements in development across our upcoming updates, including changes intended to improve stability on console.

As always, please continue reporting crashes and stability problems to our Support Team with as much information as possible.

Foliage, LOD & Visual Readability

Visual quality continues to be an important area of focus, and we’ve been pleased to see the positive response to the visual improvements introduced for PS5 Pro with the addition of PSSR in Patch 1.7, but we know there is still work to do across all platforms.

Further work across visual quality, performance and environmental readability is ongoing as part of Update 2.0, alongside the brand new addition of QSSR rolling out as soon as available from Sony later this year. We’ll have more to share as this work progresses.

Spawn & Asset Replication

We’ve continued investigating reports involving Garrisons, Outposts, vehicles, supplies and other assets occasionally failing to appear or function correctly during matches.

Previous replication changes have reduced the frequency of these reports, and we now have a further fix prepared for our next update.

We’ll continue monitoring these issues following the fix to determine whether any additional edge cases remain.

DLSS, Frame Generation & Settings

We’re aware of reports from some Nvidia users that Frame Generation needs to be manually reactivated after launching the game, alongside reports of DLSS options occasionally disappearing from the settings menu.

A resolution for this behaviour is in progress and we are targeting a fix for an update this year, however we don’t want to commit to a date yet until the change has been fully integrated and validated.

Wider Community Discussions

Alongside individual bugs, we also took several of the broader topics being discussed by the community to the development team, including player population, the game’s identity, and recent changes such as Engineer Buildables. Much of this was discussed in our recent Developer AMA #2 Livestream which you can find on YouTube.

Firstly, we want to reassure players that publicly available player statistics, such as those provided by SteamDB, only offer a partial picture of the Hell Let Loose: Vietnam community.

Our console audience currently accounts for the largest proportion of the playerbase, with both PlayStation and XBOX each representing a larger share of players than Steam. This means that publicly visible PC figures alone cannot accurately reflect the game's overall population. We also appreciate that not everyone wants to play across platforms, which is why crossplay remains optional. Simply select your preferred platform in the server settings, and you’re good to go!

We also want to reassure everyone that the Hell Let Loose: Vietnam playerbase remains healthy, and we’re looking forward to welcoming both new and returning players to the battlefield with the arrival of our next major update, 2.0.

We also want to reiterate that Hell Let Loose: Vietnam aims to provide an authentic representation of the wider Vietnam War, rather than limiting every addition, including weapons and equipment, to a specific year or individual battle. Weapons and equipment such as the M16A1, including its different magazine configurations, and the Thompson were used during the conflict, even if their presence was less widespread in certain periods or theatres of operation.

We’ll continue introducing new additions that are authentic to the conflict whilst also considering the overall balance of the game and the gameplay variety players expect from Hell Let Loose.

Finally, Engineer Buildables also remain an important part of this wider discussion. While the recent increase to barbed wire limits was welcomed, we know players continue to want greater defensive variety, and so we will be adding a new bunker type in Update 2.0!

Rushy and the team discussed Buildables, as well as many of these wider topics, in our recent Developer AMA, which you can watch in full here

Community Requests

A major part of these Community Feedback updates is identifying the features and improvements you want to see most.

Our latest Developer AMA generated plenty of discussion around future content, progression and social features, so we wanted to provide an update on several of the most frequently requested additions.

Party Chat

Party Chat continues to be one of the most common requests from players, particularly groups who want to stay in communication when separated across different Units and roles.

The good news is that Party Chat is now actively in development and we are targeting adding the feature as part of Update 2.0 subject to completion.

This is something we have prioritised and brought forward in direct response to community feedback.

We’ll share more about how Party Chat works closer to its release.

Clan Tags & Battalions

We know Clan Tags are another frequent request.

Rather than introducing a temporary Clan Tag solution that would later need to be replaced when the addition of Battalions arrives, our current plan is to introduce Clan Tags alongside that wider system which is currently targeting Update 3.0.

Progression, Commendations & Player Identity

We’ve also heard your requests for more reasons to progress, show your experience and work towards rewards.

Update 2.0 will introduce a significantly expanded selection of unlockable cosmetics, with free cosmetics tied into progression throughout the game.

That is only one part of our longer-term progression plans.

Commendations are also in development and are currently planned for 2027, whilst we’re also exploring further additions including deeper role progression and ways of better representing player experience and rank.

We know progression is an area where players want considerably more depth, and it will continue to be an important focus as Hell Let Loose: Vietnam evolves.

Maps, Weather & Environmental Variety

Urban environments, weather and greater battlefield variety continue to be some of your most common future-content requests.

Without getting ahead of future announcements, Khe Sanh will be featuring weather, and other upcoming battlefields will begin introducing more varied environments, including areas with closer urban-style combat and new forms of combat spaces.

We’ll have much more to share about future battlefields as we move into 2027.

More Weapons, Vehicles & Faction Content

More faction-specific weapons and vehicles remain another consistent request.

Update 2.0 will significantly expand the available arsenal, with further weapons, vehicles and faction-specific equipment planned as development continues.

We’ll reveal more as part of our future content announcements.

M16A1 & AK Recoil

We’ve seen continued discussion around the perceived recoil of the M16A1 compared with the AK.

Despite how it can appear visually, the M16A1 currently has less recoil than the AK. The perception largely stems from the positioning of the carry handle and the guns' rapid rate of fire, which can make its movement feel more pronounced.

Rather than increasing AK recoil, the team is investigating whether what visual adjustments could be made to improve how M16A1 recoil feels to the player.

The introduction of additional weapons will also provide players with more choices depending on their preferred handling and playstyle.

Bullet Penetration & Light Cover

Bullets being stopped by objects such as fishing nets, fences and other light environmental assets continues to generate reports. There are two areas to this:

Firstly, individual environmental assets can have incorrect collision behaviour. These are being identified and corrected on an asset-by-asset basis, with fixes being delivered in batches through updates.

Secondly, there is the wider bullet penetration system itself, where different bullet calibers determine which materials can be penetrated.

Further investigation and improvements to that wider system are planned as part of our 2027 work.

If you find a specific object or location that appears to incorrectly block bullets, please continue reporting it so the team can investigate that asset directly.

Community-Requested Quality-of-Life Changes

We also wanted to highlight a couple of smaller improvements that have come directly from community requests.

Console Tactical Map & Markers

Console players have regularly highlighted friction when navigating the Tactical Map and placing markers.

In Update 2.0 we’ve changed the marker menu to exclusively use the D-pad inputs, so that the analogue stick for character movement isn’t blocked whilst trying to place a marker on the tac-map.

There has also been work addressing situations where placing a marker over an existing map element can be unnecessarily difficult. These changes are still subject to final testing and validation, but we wanted to let you know that your feedback in this area has been heard.

Increased Server Favourites

You’ve also repeatedly asked us to increase the number of servers that can be added to your Favourites list.

With Update 2.0, the Server Favourites limit will increase to 50 servers.

This is another smaller quality-of-life improvement that came directly from the feedback you’ve been sharing with us.

Keep the Feedback Coming

Thank you again to everyone who continues to share bug reports, suggestions and feedback with us.

Recent updates have already included several changes shaped directly by community requests, including Barbed Wire limits, AFK timing, controller options and Boat behaviour, and we want to continue that approach wherever possible.

Not every request can be implemented immediately, and some larger changes require considerably more development time, but these reports help us understand what matters most to you and where improvements can make the biggest difference.

We’ll continue taking your feedback directly to the development team and sharing updates whenever we have meaningful progress to communicate.

We’ll see you on the battlefield.
