Welcome back to the Command Post.

Over the past week, we’ve continued reviewing your reports and feedback from across Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, while the development team has been working through another round of fixes and improvements.

Since our last Community Update, we deployed Hotfix 1.4.2 addressing several community-reported issues around stability, audio, VOIP, DLSS and more.

We’re also now preparing for Update 1.5, which is planned for next week, bringing further fixes and improvements alongside the arrival of the M14, Type 56 SKS and the officially licensed Bell UH-1 Iroquois ‘Huey’.

This week, we have updates on AMD, tutorial progression, spawning, console image quality and several other areas you’ve been discussing.

As always, please continue sending us your reports. The more information you can provide about what happened, your platform and how an issue can be reproduced, the easier it is for the team to investigate.

Top Community Reported Bugs & Issues

AMD Stability & FSR 4.1

AMD stability remains one of our key areas of focus, with Hotfix 1.4.1 specifically targeting improvements for affected players.

We continue to receive reports of crashes and driver timeouts from some players using AMD hardware. While recent updates have improved stability for many users, we know that some crashes remain and the team is continuing to investigate their individual causes.

Previously, we announced that we were looking to target the introduction of FSR 4.1 for Update 1.5. As development has progressed, we’ve made the decision to move FSR 4.1 to Patch 1.6 whilst we continue prioritising overall AMD stability.

We know this may be disappointing for some of you, but we want to reassure you that FSR 4.1 is already in active testing. Our priority is to ensure it can be introduced without compromising stability, and we are looking to bring it to the live game as soon as we’re confident it is ready (which could potentially be before our Patch 1.6 target).

Audio & VOIP

We have some positive progress to share following the audio and VOIP reports discussed in last week’s Community Update.

Post-Patch 1.3 Audio

Following Patch 1.3, some PC players reported that gunfire, explosions and other sound effects could sound unusually echoey or distorted.

A fix for the strong reverb issue affecting players using certain third-party spatial audio configurations was included in Hotfix 1.4.2.

We’ll continue monitoring audio reports following the hotfix to make sure the issue is behaving as expected.

VOIP

The main prolonged distorted or robotic Proximity Chat issue was addressed in Patch 1.4.

Hotfix 1.4.2 has since addressed a further VOIP issue where closing radio communications or entering a menu while talking could cause the final sound from a transmission to repeat or stutter.

We’ll continue reviewing any remaining VOIP reports as they come in.

Tutorial Progress & Role Lockouts

We’re continuing to investigate reports from players whose Tutorial progress does not save correctly or who find that certain roles remain unavailable despite completing the required Tutorials.

Several fixes have already been introduced in previous updates, and Update 1.5 next week will include an additional fix addressing instances where player save data can fail to save correctly.

We believe this could be contributing to some of the reports we’re seeing, although we cannot yet confirm that it accounts for every instance of lost Tutorial progress or role access.

For that reason, we’re continuing to investigate the wider issue and ask that players who encounter it continue sending us reproduction steps and as much information as possible.

Spawn & Deployment Issues

Last week we discussed reports of Garrisons and Outposts becoming unavailable, spawn selection failing and some deployment functionality becoming inaccessible during matches. We can confirm that we are continuing to investigate these reports.

One specific gamepad issue has been identified where players could lose focus within the spawn selection menu, and a fix for this is currently planned for Update 1.5.

The wider reports involving Garrisons and Outposts becoming unavailable remain under investigation. So far, the team has not been able to consistently reproduce the behaviour internally, which makes detailed player reports particularly valuable.

If you encounter the issue, please let us know which map and game mode you were playing, your faction, which spawn points were affected and anything that occurred immediately beforehand.

Console Image Quality

We continue to see feedback around console image quality, including draw distance, foliage, visual noise, perceived resolution and LOD transitions.

While there are no specific console image quality changes planned for Update 1.5, we want to reassure console players that this remains an active area of development.

A major part of improving image quality is continuing to optimise the game. Additional performance headroom allows us to increase the base resolution and reduce how heavily the game needs to rely on Dynamic Resolution.

The team has recently completed another substantial optimisation pass on environmental LODs to help create additional headroom, with this work continuing across future updates.

We can also confirm that PSSR development for PS5 Pro has now started as well.

We’re also investigating improvements to how objects and shadows transition when aiming down sights. Currently, these transitions can sometimes result in visible popping when entering or leaving ADS. The aim of this work is to provide a more stable image when moving between the two views and are targeting this for Patch 1.6.

This is an iterative process rather than something that will be resolved within a single update, but work on console image quality is continuing.

Gameplay & Balance

Alongside bug reports, we’re seeing more discussion around gameplay balancing and how some of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam’s newer mechanics can continue to evolve.

Helicopters & Counterplay

Helicopters continue to generate plenty of discussion, with recent feedback increasingly focusing on their durability and the options available to infantry when trying to counter them.

One specific issue players have highlighted is the ability for Helicopter rotor blades to destroy Garrisons and Outposts simply by flying through them.

This behaviour was not intended and will be fixed in Update 1.5, meaning Helicopter crews will once again need to leave the aircraft if they want to manually dismantle an enemy spawn.

Update 1.5 will also introduce the officially licensed Bell UH-1 Iroquois ‘Huey’, alongside several changes to Helicopter balancing. The new model features larger open areas around the sides of the aircraft, providing additional opportunities for enemy players to engage its occupants.

We’ll continue monitoring the balance between Helicopters and the tools available to counter them once these changes reach the live game.

Bullet Penetration

Another area we’ve seen discussed increasingly is bullet penetration through environmental objects.

We know that there are currently situations where bullets can be stopped by surfaces that players would reasonably expect to be able to fire through, including parts of buildings, bamboo and smaller pieces of cover.

The Environment Art team is actively working on improvements in this area. The initial priority is on buildings and other commonly encountered cover where inconsistent penetration has the greatest impact on gameplay. From there, we’ll look at addressing additional assets on a case-by-case basis while ensuring any changes remain performant.

We’ll continue to provide updates as progress continues.

Community Requests

Alongside reports and balancing discussions, we’re continuing to track the features and improvements you’re asking to see in the future.

Server Browser & Fast Deploy

An option to get into games quicker continues to be one of the more common requests, particularly amongst console players looking for a faster way to get into a match. We can now confirm that a 'Fast Deploy' option is something the team has been discussing internally, and it is a feature that we would like to introduce to Hell Let Loose: Vietnam.

We don’t yet have a confirmed implementation plan or release window to share, so we don’t want to set expectations around when it could arrive. Once discussions around the development requirements have progressed further and we have a clearer idea of how Quick Play could be implemented, we’ll be sure to return with another update.

Controller Remapping

We continue to see requests from console players for greater control over controller bindings.

Whilst fully customisable controller remapping is technically possible, it requires a different approach to traditional keyboard and mouse rebinding. Controller inputs often serve multiple functions depending on context, so we need to ensure any remapping solution accounts for those interactions and remains intuitive and reliable across different gameplay situations.

However, smaller changes to the existing layouts may be easier for us to introduce. For example, if there are specific and frequently requested changes such as alternative options for Crouch or Jump, these could potentially be explored without requiring an entirely new remapping system.

So, we want to hear from you: which controller bindings or layout changes would you most like to see?

Weapons & Loadout Variety

Weapons and loadout variety remain amongst the most popular future content requests.

We have noted that the CAR-15, XM177 and additional SMGs have been some of the weapons we’ve seen most frequently requested recently, alongside continued calls for additional faction-specific equipment and greater loadout variety.

Next week, that arsenal will already begin expanding with the arrival of the M14 and Type 56 SKS in Update 1.5.

We also have some other plans in the works with changes to the existing loadouts coming in Update 1.5 and future updates as well.

As always, we’ll continue passing your weapon suggestions directly to the development team as we plan future additions.

Looking Ahead: Update 1.5

Our next major update is currently planned for next week.

Update 1.5 will bring another round of fixes and improvements, including resolving some of the issues discussed above, alongside several new additions to Hell Let Loose: Vietnam.

The M14 and Type 56 SKS will expand the loadouts available to both factions, while the existing US Transport Helicopter will be replaced by the officially licensed Bell UH-1 Iroquois ‘Huey’.

We’ll have much more to share about Update 1.5, including the full changelog and everything arriving alongside it, very soon.

Keep the Reports Coming

We’ve been encouraged to see the response to the recent patches and hotfixes, particularly the reduction in reports around persistent Recon and Flare markers and the main robotic Proximity Chat issue.

There is still plenty for us to work through, and stability, spawning, tutorials, console image quality and other community reports remain important areas of focus.
